2013 Conference Plans

ICMA will hold its 35th Conference in the City of Chicago – Gateway to the Midwest USA. It is a world-class city of unsurpassed beauty, attracting visitors from the nation and the world. Chicago is the home to the Blues, top sports teams (Bears, Bulls, Cubs, White Sox, Blackhawks) and famous landmarks of modern American Architecture such as the Willis Tower, formerly the Sears Tower, one of the tallest freestanding structure in the entire world, John Hancock Tower, Water Tower Place, Frank Lloyd Wright Homes and many more. Chicago has world-class museums such as the Field Museum, Arts Institute, Museum of Science & Industry, Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium, etc. Chicago is a famous metropolitan center of high rise buildings with spectacular skyline viewed from Lake Michigan and is the home of one of the tallest concrete buildings in the world along Wacker Drive. The headquarter of the Portland Cement Association (PCA) is in Skokie, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. The meeting will be in one of the best hotels in Chicagoland (venue to be announced later) tentatively scheduled on Sunday, April 29, 2013 to Wednesday, May 1, 2013. Plans are underway to include papers that are good blend of practical applications, new techniques and novel approaches and the latest research efforts in the field of microscopic evaluation of portland cement and related materials. Aside from organizing a tour to famous historical building landmarks of Chicago, a tour of the Portland Cement Association (PCA) and Construction Technology Laboratories (CTL) in Skokie, Illinois is being planned. The Spouse and Guest Committee will also plan programs & tours to the many beautiful and interesting sites of Chicagoland for the spouses and guests accompanying the attendees. In order for ICMA to have the proceedings available at the conference, we have to start planning the 2013 program early. We would like to encourage you to share your work and experiences with us by presenting paper(s) at the 2013 conference. We eagerly welcome presentations on all aspects of cement and concrete microscopy. Your participation is what makes the ICMA conference one of the best cement and concrete technology conferences.
